For Christmas, you may be looking for a place to share a few days with family, prepare a meal or make visits between reunions. For New Year, the priority may be being close to an evening out and arranging the journey back.
In both cases, be clear with yourself about the plan before selecting accommodation. A holiday rental does not automatically allow gatherings, outside visitors or parties: the rules of each apartment are what count.

Look at how the sleeping arrangements are spread out. Two bedrooms, a studio with a double bed or a living room fitted with a sofa bed do not offer the same set-up.
If you plan to dine in the accommodation, check the table, the seating, the crockery and the appliances available. For a stay with children, consult the advertised amenities rather than assuming they are present.
The 24th, 25th and 31st of December, as well as 1 January, call for a little planning ahead. Confirm the arrival times, access to shops and restaurant bookings. Also prepare the journeys for the day of departure.
Keep useful information offline: the exact address, access details and the contact number provided with your booking.
Before confirming, read the total price, the cancellation conditions, any deposit and the check-out times. Compare equivalent offers and avoid deciding on the atmospheric photo alone.
