Weekend and stay

A weekend in Nancy around the Ephemeral Garden

The garden can be the thread running through a stay without taking up the whole programme. With two days in Nancy, you can combine Place Stanislas, the historic streets and a visit chosen according to your tastes. Here is an itinerary to adapt to the opening times for your travel dates.

Information checked on 21/10/2026 — 2026 edition, to be reviewed each year (dates & programmes vary).
Imagined old street with pale façades, autumn leaves and a strolling couple.

Saturday morning: discover the old town

Start around Place Saint-Epvre and the Grande Rue. Take the time to look at the doors and façades, then continue towards the Porte de la Craffe if the walk suits your group.

Choose a lunch with enough leeway after you arrive. If you travel in the morning, this stage can also become the programme for the start of the afternoon.

Saturday afternoon: reach the garden

An autumn garden on a square inspired by Place Stanislas.

Go via Place de la Carrière and the Héré arch to reach Place Stanislas. You will gradually discover the shift from the old streets to a more open space.

Then set aside some time for the Ephemeral Garden during its opening period. Take a first walk through at your own pace, then choose a few details to observe. If you have planned a guided activity, build the half-day around its time slot.

This route is a suggested stay. It describes neither an official required entrance nor a guaranteed visit length.

Saturday evening: keep a real break

An autumn walk can make you want to settle somewhere warm before heading out to dinner. Book according to your programme rather than scheduling two activities too close together.

A second walk through the garden can be considered within its opening hours. However, you should not assume that a night-time show or special lighting is planned: check the announcements for any specific event.

Sunday: a visit and some free time

In the morning, choose an activity that complements your discovery: a museum, an available tour or a food-themed walk. Check the opening day, whether booking is needed and the time required to reach the place.

Then keep a moment for shopping, a final meal or a return to the favourite district from the day before. Your stay will be more enjoyable if you don't schedule a fixed-time activity just before you leave.

Adapting the programme to your group

With children, shorten the walks and make room for the garden investigations. As a couple, you can favour an artistic discovery and a dinner.

Before booking, check the check-in times for the accommodation and the departure conditions. Luggage cannot be assumed to be kept before or after the booked period.
