Ephemeral Garden and Gallé exhibition: two ways of seeing Nancy

Do you enjoy stays where one discovery leads to another? Gallé's world offers a thread between a walk in the Ephemeral Garden and a visit to the museum. The point is to give each its own place: observe outside, then look at the works at a different pace.

Information checked on 21/10/2026 — 2026 edition, to be reviewed each year (dates & programmes vary).

A period when the two visits overlap

The Fine Arts Museum announces "L'étrange cas de Monsieur Gallé" from 21 October 2026 to 28 February 2027. To combine this exhibition with the 2026 garden, choose a stay during their shared opening period and check the museum's visit day.

The two events do not share the same schedule. After the garden closes, the exhibition can still be part of a cultural getaway; it does not allow you to promise that the garden will still be on the square.

Start with the plants or with the works?

An autumn garden on a square inspired by Place Stanislas.

You can choose the order depending on the weather. In fine light, start outside and keep the museum for another part of the day. In wet weather, a programme centred on the exhibition may be more pleasant.

Another option is to split the visits over two days. You will have time to come back to the details that struck you, without tiring your attention.

Preparing a question before going in

How does a plant shape become a decoration or an object? This question is enough to link the two experiences. Choose a detail spotted in the garden, then see whether a line, a colour or a material reminds you of it during the visit.

The idea is not to find a set match between each installation and a work. Your own way of seeing is also part of the pleasure of the discovery.

Checking the museum's conditions

Check the opening hours, the booking conditions and the prices that apply to your group. The presence of an exhibition in a general programme does not mean that every type of visit is included in a single ticket.

If you prefer to be accompanied, our selection of guided tours presents the routes announced for this edition.

Rounding off the getaway in the old town

After the visit, leave time for a meal and a walk. A stay of several nights can let you broaden the discovery without packing everything into a single day.

The visuals in this feature evoke the dialogue between plants and creation; the glass objects shown are imaginary, not works on display.
